You’re a Real Character: Writing about Yourself in Creative Nonfiction

Description: Figuring out how to write accurately about yourself and others is one of the fun challenges of creative nonfiction. In this workshop, we’ll discuss psychic distance, reflective voice, character development, and other tricks of the trade to help you figure out how to put yourself in an essay, as well as the other option: how to leave yourself out.

Erin Flanagan is the author of the novel, Deer Season, as well as two short story collections from the University of Nebraska Press. She is an English professor at Wright State University. To learn more about her and say hello, please follow her on Twitter @erinlflanagan or visit her website at https://erinflanagan.net/

The program is free, but registration is required. Masks are required for all indoor programs at the Library. Please stay home if you're not feeling well.
