DESCRIPTION:Graceful Blossom Ink &\; Wash Brush Painting WorkshopParticipants will learn how to paint the thriving peonies with the ancient ink and wash technique with Dr. Yufeng Wang\, professor and award-winning artist in Dayton. \; Originated in China\, the auspicious peony flower symbolizes grace\, prosperity\, good luck\, and lasting Spring. The goal of ink and wash painting is not simply to reproduce the appearance of the subject\, but to capture its soul. \;\n\nThe program is free but limited to 20 people. For ages 10 and up. Supplies are provided. \;\n\nAbout Dr. Yufeng Wang: I am a professor and a Chinese brush painting artist. My artwork desires to create a sense of peace and harmony in nature and humanity. My paintings received many awards and are in the collection of numerous institutions. \; My underglaze painting “Four Seasons” received first place in the Dayton Painters and Sculptors show in 2015. \; My artwork “Li River” was awarded the Burnell Roberts Purchase Award in 2015 and is in the permanent collection of Sinclair College. I am the featured artist in the current Art Exhibition at the Springboro Performing Arts Center\, March 2023. \; 2012\, Wright State University held personal art exhibitions for me\, Seasons in Harmony\, showcasing 26 pieces of my ink and wash paintings. Recently\, University of Dayton commissioned me to make a ceramic sculpture with underglaze painting\, Love and Grace\, which is a Chinese rendering of the Virgin Mary and baby Jesus. With ancient Chinese dress\, underglaze painting of roses\, and the traditional character of Love as a centerpiece of decoration\, the sculpture conveys universal love\, grace\, and tranquility. \;I have enjoyed sharing Chinese art and made many art presentations and workshops in the community and local schools. \; They included workshops at the Dayton Association of Artists\, Dayton Metro Public Library\, Cincinnati Art Museum\, Dayton Miami Valley Schools\, Wright State University\, Sinclair College\, the Dayton Business and Technology High School\, Dayton Woman’s Club\, the 2022 Dayton Art in the City Event\, and more. \; For more information\, visit: \;http://fineartamerica.com/profiles/yufeng-wang\n\n\nImage URL: https://wclibrary.info/images/blocks/womenStrongWorkshop_block.jpg
